BOATFEST PARTY AND MMHF BOOTH

On Friday, May 1, 2009, the EYC Foundation hosted the kickoff party for the Maryland Maritime Heritage Festival weekend.  The event, held outside Fawcett’s Boat Supplies at City Dock in downtown Annapolis, was hugely successful, raising well over $2,000 for the Foundation.  The party featured dancing under the stars to the music of Blue Thrill  and The Rhythmcats.

The Heritage Festival Booth attracted many interested visitors during the following weekend.  The booth featured photos from this year’s OYSTER KIDS program.  The canoes from the BOATBUILDING BY THE BAY program (see Grants) were displayed.

CANOE BUILDING AWARDS AND LAUNCHING

During the early spring, 20 youngsters from Annapolis were taught boatbuilding skills at the Annapolis Maritime Museum.  The program was jointly sponsored by the EYC Foundation, the Annapolis Maritime Museum, and Box of Rain.  The canoes they built were launched at the Museum on Sunday, May 17.

The Foundation wants to spread its message and raise more funds.  Without  more support, we cannot realize our vision of supporting boating in the community.
